The Alcázar of Seville is a royal palace in the city of Seville (Andalusia, Spain). It was originally a fort of the Moors, expanded several times.

The first palace was built by the Almohad dynasty. Most of the modern complex was built on the ruins of an Arab fortress by King Pedro I of Castile, the beginning of construction dates back to 1364.

The palace is one of the best surviving examples of Mudéjar architecture. Gothic elements added later (during the reign of Charles V) contrast with the dominant Islamic style. The intricate floors, ceilings and walls are works of art, reaching their greatest heights of elegance and luxury in the room of Charles V and in the Ambassadors’ Hall (Salón de Embajadores). The Maiden’s Patio (Patio de las Doncellas) is known for its friezes, tiles and stucco. The overall feeling of an elegant summer retreat is complemented by beautifully manicured gardens with fragrant roses and orange trees along the avenues.

For almost 700 years it was the palace of the Spanish kings. The upper chambers of the Alcazar are still used by the royal family as the official residence in Seville.

Marbella (Spanish: Marbella) is a city in Spain, part of the province of Malaga. The famous resort on the Mediterranean coast of Spain, the Costa del Sol.

Marbella is a beautiful and wealthy resort town with a picturesque seaside boulevard and a good public beach. The old town has been beautifully restored. Its center is formed by Orange Square, where the city hall is located, surrounded by snow-white lanes.

Other attractions: the Arab fortress wall, the Avenida del Mar alley with sculptures by Salvador Dali, the Bonsai Museum, the Museum of Engraving, the ancient church of Iglesia de la Encarnación, the crocodile park (Cocodrilo Park).

Tenerife is the largest and most populous island of the Canary Islands. It is home to 43% of the total population of the archipelago.

Approximately five million tourists visit Tenerife each year; it is the most visited island in the archipelago. It is one of the most important tourist destinations in Spain and the world, hosting one of the world’s largest carnivals, the Carnival of Santa Cruz de Tenerife.

The capital of the island, Santa Cruz de Tenerife, is also the seat of the island council (cabildo insular). Santa Cruz contains the modern Auditorio de Tenerife, the architectural symbol of the Canary Islands.

Teide National Park, located in the center of the island, is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It includes Mount Teide, which has the highest elevation in Spain, and the highest among all the islands in the Atlantic Ocean. It is also the third-largest volcano in the world, when measured from its base. Another geographical feature of the island, the Macizo de Anaga (massif), has been designated as a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve since 2015. Tenerife also has the largest number of endemic species in Europe.

Three UNESCO World Heritage Sites are located in the old part of the city with an area of about 4 km²: the Alcazar Palace Complex, the Cathedral and the General Archives of the Indies. The harbor of Seville, located about 80 kilometers (50 miles) from the Atlantic Ocean, is the only river port in Spain.

Seville – a major tourist center. The ancient part of the city (Casco Antiguo) consists of a labyrinth of narrow streets. One of the most popular streets is the winding snake Calle do Sierpes. Among the houses there are palace-like buildings, built mainly in the ancient Roman style, with courtyards lined with marble. In addition, oriental architecture is often found. There are many public fountains in Seville, most of which are supplied by the famous Canos de Carmona Viaduct, built back in the time of Julius Caesar. There are 74 temples in the city.

Plaza Mayor (Spanish: Plaza Mayor – “Main Square”) is one of the central squares of the Spanish capital. It is located in the part that is commonly called “Austrian Madrid”.

It competes with Puerta del Sol for the right to be called the main square of the Spanish capital, but unlike the democratic Puerta del Sol, Plaza Mayor is a status square, the “navel of Spain”, as Lope de Vega said. The Madrid baroque square, one of the few monuments of the Habsburg era, was designed by the architect Juan Gómez de Mora.
